How it all began

Taste of Mauritius was inspired by fusing together the love I have for my island, and my passion for food from my East Indian heritage. It was after a Mauritian food sharing event in May of 2013 here in Nova Scotia, raising funds to help the victims on the island after an unexpected and never seen-before deadly flash flood that hit the island’s capital on March 30, 2013.

The overwhelming success from that event along with the incredible feedback the South-Indian influenced Mauritius dishes, from all those who ordered, is what ultimately inspired me to take it all one step further. The dream turned to reality and Taste of Mauritius was born was then. Taste of Mauritius Catering and Taste of Mauritius Spices, both evolved and flourished in tandem over the last 8 and 5 years consecutively, until the Covid-19 pandemic.

Taste of Mauritius, TODAY…

While the Catering side of Taste of Mauritius had to sadly cease operation, fortunately the Spices was able continue on. I remain grateful to all who have LOVED and SUPPORTED both sides of Taste of Mauritius since 2015; as well as all who continue to encourage my post acute Covid-19 rehabilitation and long-Covid journey.

If you’re in their neighbourhoods, make sure to head on over to these wonderful locally-owned businesses in Nova Scotia, who never stopped supporting smaller entrepreneurs like myself, and be sure grab our spices and more there:
Pete’s Fine Foods (at both Halifax and Bedford locations).
Noggins Santé Centre (in Bedford)
Noggins on Coburg (in Halifax)
 Cavicchis’ Meats (in Tantallon)
