BOL RENVERSÉ aka. MAGIC BOWL (chicken + shrimp together)

The BOL REVERSÉ or MAGIC BOWL as it’s been translated to in english (although the literal translation to “bol renversé” is really “inverted bowl”!)… is an incredibly unique Sino-Mauritian dish that all Mauritians and even anyone who’s vacationed on the island know about and talk about!

A typical Chinese Mauritian (Sino-Mauritian) unique to our island consisting of steamed rice, with a chop suey-like prepared dish with sauce packed on it and a fried egg at the very top – “packed” because it IS all packed in a bowl and turned upside-down onto a plate for that a bowl shape-like wow-factor presentation showcasing all beautiful layered with the chop suey gravy seeping into the fresh rice!

FYI… it ain’t a magic bowl without the assembly plated upside-down using a deep bowl and it certainly ain’t magical without that fried egg on top with that golden yolk dripping down the sides!

IMPORTANT NOTE:
Our Bol Reversé experience is being offered for the first time for our Friday Takeaway! This dish DOES require some assembly on your part! As well, it of course does NOT include the egg, as the fried egg needs to be made fresh just before assembly. A full instruction sheet, with photos, is included with all Bol Renversé orders as a guide for reheating the rice and chop suey; for the egg preparation; and for the final assembly in order to help you enjoy that full Mauritian MAGIC BOWL experience!
